Understanding User Roles

Payverge has three main types of users, each with different capabilities and access levels. Understanding these roles will help you make the most of the platform.

🏢 Business Owners

Business owners are the primary administrators of a Payverge account. They have full access to all features and settings.

What Business Owners Can Do

  • Complete Control - Access all features and settings
  • Financial Management - View revenue, manage subscriptions, and handle payments
  • Business Settings - Configure branding, hours, and business information
  • Menu Management - Create and edit menus, categories, and items
  • Table Management - Create tables and generate QR codes
  • Staff Management - Invite staff members and assign roles
  • Bill Management - Create, view, and close bills
  • Analytics Access - View detailed reports and insights
  • Plugin Configuration - Enable and configure payment methods and integrations

How to Become a Business Owner

  1. Visit the Payverge website
  2. Click "Start Your Business"
  3. Complete the registration process
  4. Connect your crypto wallet (for blockchain registration)
  5. Choose and pay for a subscription plan

Note: Business owners authenticate using their crypto wallet (Sign-In with Ethereum/SIWE).


👥 Staff Members

Staff members are employees invited by business owners to help manage operations. They have role-based access to specific features.

Manager

Full operational access - Can manage everything except financial settings

Server

Table and bill management - Focused on customer service

  • ✅ View tables and their status
  • ✅ Create bills for customers

  • ✅ View order status
  • ❌ Menu editing
  • ❌ Staff management
  • ❌ Analytics access
  • ❌ Table creation/deletion

Best for: Waiters, waitresses, front-of-house staff

Host

Table and seating management - Focused on guest reception

  • ✅ View all tables
  • ✅ See table status (occupied, available)
  • ✅ View active bills
  • ❌ Create or edit bills
  • ❌ Menu management
  • ❌ Order management
  • ❌ Staff management

Best for: Hosts, hostesses, greeters

Kitchen

Order viewing only - Focused on food preparation

  • ✅ Access kitchen display system
  • ✅ View incoming orders
  • ✅ Mark items as "In Kitchen" or "Ready"
  • ✅ See order details and special requests
  • ❌ All other features restricted

Best for: Chefs, cooks, kitchen staff

How Staff Members Join

  1. Business owner sends an invitation email
  2. Staff member clicks the invitation link
  3. Enters their name and accepts the invitation
  4. Receives login credentials via email
  5. Logs in using email and one-time codes

Note: Staff members authenticate using email and 6-digit verification codes (no crypto wallet required).


🍽️ Guests (Customers)

Guests are your customers who visit your establishment and use Payverge to browse menus, order, and pay.

What Guests Can Do

  • Scan QR Codes - Access your menu by scanning the table QR code
  • Browse Menu - View items with photos, descriptions, and prices
  • Customize Orders - Select options and add special requests
  • Place Orders - Submit orders directly to your kitchen
  • View Bills - See itemized bills in real-time
  • Split Bills - Divide bills among multiple people
  • Make Payments - Pay with crypto or other enabled payment methods
  • View Receipts - Access digital receipts after payment

Guest Experience Flow

  1. Arrive - Guest sits at a table
  2. Scan - Scans the QR code on the table
  3. Browse - Views your digital menu on their phone
  4. Order - Selects items and places an order
  5. Track - Sees order status (pending, approved, preparing, ready)
  6. Pay - Views bill and completes payment
  7. Leave - Receives digital receipt

Note: Guests don't need to create accounts or download apps - everything works through their mobile browser!

Authentication Methods

Business Owners

  • Method: Sign-In with Ethereum (SIWE)
  • Requirement: Crypto wallet (MetaMask, WalletConnect, etc.)
  • Security: Blockchain-based authentication
  • Why: Enables blockchain registration and crypto payments

Staff Members

  • Method: Email + One-Time Codes
  • Requirement: Email address only
  • Security: 6-digit verification codes sent via email
  • Why: Simple access without crypto knowledge

Guests

  • Method: No authentication required
  • Requirement: Just scan the QR code
  • Security: Session-based access to specific table
  • Why: Fastest, most convenient experience

Choosing the Right Role

When inviting team members, consider their responsibilities:
